As President and founder of Life in Focus, LLC, Barbara brings over 30 years of legal, business and non-profit experience to her career and life coaching clients.  When she is not coaching, you can find her hanging out with her family and friends, in the garden up to her elbows in dirt and perennials, breathing in the sights and sounds of New York City or walking on the beach.

Barbara has successfully redefined her own career path a number of times so she knows what it is like to engage in a career change process.  She also has been a working mom who was able to raise two wonderful, competent and independent children.  Barbara has finally found her career passion in serving as a career and life coach.

Barbara’s broad range of experiences as a lawyer and business professional in the business and not-for-profit sectors enables her to quickly and fully understand many career-related issues.  Over the past three decades, she has developed expertise in how people select and are chosen for their careers.  She has reviewed over a thousand resumes and has conducted hundreds of interviews.  Barbara’s experience and expertise are key assets in her current work as a career and life coach.  One of her greatest work achievements is her successful mentoring and coaching of clients and colleagues of various ages and backgrounds.

Prior to starting her coaching business, Barbara worked for several years as a consultant providing legal and business counsel on employment law, business ethics and human resources matters to small businesses and non-profit organizations and helping individuals prepare for new employment opportunities.  Before that, she worked for Cablevision, a major publicly-held telecommunications and entertainment company, in a number of different in-house legal capacities over a 20 year period. In her last position before leaving Cablevision, Barbara served as Vice President Employment Law and Business Ethics where she created and managed the Company’s Employment Law Department, the Company’s first department with corporate-wide responsibilities. In that role, Barbara was responsible for giving legal and business ethics advice to senior Company management and working closely with the human resources professionals to develop “best practice” human resources policies.  She also was closely involved in developing performance improvement and career development opportunities for Company employees.

Prior to working at Cablevision, Barbara worked at the Wall Street law firm Stroock & Stroock & Lavan (now Stroock) in both the litigation and corporate departments.  She also served as Project Coordinator of a government-funded community involvement and drug abuse prevention program in The Bronx.  Barbara has continued her interest in the not-for-profit arena throughout her career and currently holds a number of important leadership positions in not-for-profit organizations.

Barbara graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a B.A. and an M.A. in Sociology and received her J.D. from St. John’s University School of Law. Barbara received her Certificate in Coaching from New York University.

Barbara is a member of the the International Coach Federation and Treasurer of the Long Island Coaching Alliance.  She also serves in leadership positions on several not-for-profit Boards.
